By now, you've probably seen the video of two-time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant absolutely torching the competition at Rucker Park in Harlem on Monday, Aug. 1. [If not, click here for our coverage of Mr. Summer League's incredible night.] Not only did Durant erupt for 66 points, but the game stopped after his fourth straight pull-up three while fans rushed the court to touch him. The way the crowd noise built up each time he brought  the ball up court? Simply amazing.

Durant's long, lean frame gives him obvious advantages over defenders, but his game is built on hard work as much as genetics. He's been training like a pro since he played for Montrose Christian School [Rockville, Md.] and worked with strength coach Alan Stein. It was evident to Stein early on that Durant is a special athlete. "He has an unparalleled passion and love for the game," says Stein, "and a remarkable work ethic."

Durant's dedication to training continued during his time at the University of Texas, which helped lay the foundation for his pro career.
