Watch Kevin Costner get his Liam Neeson on in the first trailer for 3 Days to Kill. Directed by McG (Terminator Salvation), the movie was written by the man behind the Taken series, Luc Besson.
Costner plays Ethan Runner, a Secret Service agent who tries to get out of the spy game.
"I don't want to spend the rest of my life killing for you. I just want to spend a little more time with my daughter and my wife," says Runner.
Time isn't on his side. Before he is able to retire, he falls mysteriously ill. His handler (Amber Heard) promises a cure for the otherwise fatal disease, but there's a catch. He must completes one final mission. She then fills him up with an experimental drug to keep him breathing for the next three days. Action and hilarity ensue as he attempts to pull off one last kill while keeping an eye on his estranged teenage daughter (Hailee Steinfeld), who doesn't know the truth about his day job, while his wife is out-of-town.
"So, I buy back my life by killing for you?" asks Runner.
"That's the job. You have three days to kill," replies Heard.
The premise doesn't exactly break new territory, but that may not be a negative. Besson knows what he does well and plays into it, and McG has experience creating a winning mixture of action and comedy (see: This Means War). Plus, Kevin Costner looks believable issuing beat downs.
3 Days to Kill reaches theaters Feb 21. Watch the trailer below.
