Many professional athletes are relatively young.
Many professional athletes are also single.
Like most young, single people, that means they've got a dating app installed on their phone.
Two of the most popular are Tinder and Bumble.
In a 2016 ESPN article on the topic, MLB first baseman Eric Hosmer estimated a third of his single teammates were using some sort of dating app.
In the same piece, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski revealed he'd installed Tinder briefly in 2012, stating he was "matching like crazy."
Some are searching for "the one" on these dating apps, while others are looking for something less serious.
Bizarrely enough, Bumble now has an in-game presence in sports, as well.
Last season, the company signed a $20 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers for the team to wear the app's logo on their jerseys.
