David Eckstein was all about hustle and grit.
Just what you'd expect from a former walk-on.
Although he was a two-time all-state selection in high school, Eckstein had to walk on to the baseball team at the University of Florida.
He went on to become a two-time first-team All-SEC selection.
Eckstein was drafted in the 19th round of the 1997 amateur draft.
He was a two-time World Series champion during his professional career, winning with both the Anaheim Angels and the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was also a two-time All-Star and the 2006 World Series MVP.
Like many walk-ons, Eckstein was undersized and often overlooked, but that didn't stop him from achieving greatness.
