Few college basketball programs can rival the storied traditions of the Kansas Jayhawks. They have won the Big 12 Conference's regular season title every year since 2005, and the NCAA Championship three times.
The NBA is stocked with notable ex-Jayhawks, including Boston Celtics G/F Paul Pierce, Oklahoma City Thunder F Nick Collison and Milwaukee Bucks F Drew Gooden. In 2008, junior point guard Mario Chalmers (now with the Miami Heat) hit a three pointer (see above photo) with 2.1 seconds left to force overtime in the NCAA championship game against Memphis, which Kansas eventually won.
In an ongoing series at STACK Basketball, we examine some of America's top programs and offer advice to high school athletes looking to leap to the next level of competition. In our first installment, Syracuse head men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim shared his insights on Syracuse basketball recruiting. To get tips from University of Kansas head coach Bill Self on how to get noticed by the right programs, head over to College Basketball Recruiting Series: Kansas Jayhawks.
