After stumbling in a loss to Penn State, then narrowly beating Northwestern, the No. 6th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are looking for a way to recapture their early-season swagger. The solution? Rocking gorgeous throwback uniforms inspired by their first undefeated season in 1916, celebrating that team's 100th anniversary.
OSU unveiled photos of their brand new Nike Vapor Untouchable uniforms, which they will rock on Saturday. The threads feature a scarlet jersey with four gray stripes running up from the waistband to just above the white numbers on the front of the jersey. A gray stripe also runs down each shoulder. Players will rock gray pants offset by red and white-striped socks. A plain matte black helmet finishes off the throwback look.
The uniforms pay homage to Chic Harley, the star running back of that 1916 Buckeye squad. A label on the inside of the jersey reads "music and cannon fire," a reference to how Harley's running style was once described.
Be sure to tune in when Ohio State takes on Nebraska at 8 p.m. on Saturday to catch these bad boys in action.
