With the new year upon us, some of you may be thinking about your new workout routine and how to stay as consistent as possible to hit all your fitness goals.
Below is my list of essential home exercise equipment everyone needs. Whether you're in the comfort of your own home or traveling, the equipment listed below is easy to store and won't take up much room.
1. Mini Bands
I can not say enough about the effectiveness of mini bands. This item is first on the list for a reason. In a time when many people are quad dominant, we can not forget that building your posterior chain is just as important.
This article demonstrates some of the many awesome exercises you can do with them.
Resistance bands are an excellent way to get a full-body resistance workout in without ever touching a dumbbell. These bands help make the possibilities of your workout endless.

Medicine balls are a great tool for building core strength and coordination. There is a wide range of exercises that can be done with one. Make sure to pick the right weight when choosing one.
4. Exercise Mat
Exercise mats are absolutely essential to your home workout collection. The exercise mat allows you do a plethora of floor exercises comfortably. Exercises such as Push-Ups, Mountain Climbers, Planks, Sit-Ups and much more can be done with the mat.
5. Jump Rope
I love the jump rope! The jump rope is great for conditioning and coordination, and can be an amazing tool for high-intensity interval training.
Kettlebells are simply amazing. They are a great tool for functional exercise that combines strength and cardio. Kettlebells recruit more stabilizer muscles than dumbbells and barbells because of their off-centered weight. A must-have for your home.
This article gives you an idea of the kind of exercises you can do with your kettlebell.
7. Foam Roller
Foam Rollers are a great tool for injury prevention. The foam roller helps break down lactic acid, aids muscle soreness, increases flexibility and mobility, and helps you recover faster to get back to training.
8. Pull-Up Bar
Pull-Ups are my absolute FAVORITE exercise. Pull-ups are the best exercise for building overall upper-body strength and quite possibly the hardest bodyweight exercise to build up to doing with no assistance.
These Bands are not only perfect for helping with pull-up assistance but also for stretching and building mobility. I use them frequently with clients and they have definitely helped build vertical pulling strength and also loosen overactive muscles when used for stretching purposes.
10. Ab Roller Wheel
The Ab roller wheel is a great exercise that will absolutely build core strength and stability.
BONUS: 11. Weighted Vest
I'd feel odd if I didn't throw the weighted vest on this list as an honorable mention. The weighted vest isn't for everyone, but those looking to add a lot of difficulty to their workouts will thank me.
