Steve Carell is producing the comedy International Incident, starring Ken Jeong of The Hangover Trilogy. After years of successfully playing supporting characters, Jeong makes his debut as a leading man in this movie.

The screenplay will be written by former Daily Show head writer David Javerbaum. The plot centers on five delegates from the United Nations on a road trip searching for one of their lost loves.

The project reunites Javerbaum and Carell, who previously worked together on the Daily Show as well as the comedy special Steve Carell Salutes Steve Carell. Javerbaum is currently the head writer for the The Maya Rudolph Show on NBC.

It appears that Carell will not act in the picture, but will instead remain behind the scenes to produce via his Carousel Productions banner.

A good sign came with the recent announcement that Summit Entertainment, known for such hits as The Twilight Saga, recently picked up the pitch for the project crafted by Carousel creative executives.

Carell is producing several projects, including Mail-Order Groom with collaborator Tina Fey.
