The iPhone 4 has been on the market for less than a month and has already sold more than three million units, making it the most successful product launch in history. But does it deserve all the attention? The answer is a resounding yes.

Build & Performance

When you hold the phone, it's unmistakably of the highest quality, with a strengthened glass front and back, and stainless steel band. The screen is like nothing you've seen before—excellent for watching movies or using apps on a long bus ride. The touch screen is accurate, and the operating system is smooth and intuitive, making for an enjoyable experience.

Important Features

5 Megapixel Camera/HD Video RecorderThe rear-facing camera brings unparalleled performance to cell phones. The inclusion of a flash and 5x zoom makes it more versatile for your everyday photography needs. The HD video capability is great for taking video of your practice or games, which can be quickly edited on the phone with iMovie, so you can easily distribute highlights to coaches or recruiters.

FaceTime Video Chat

FaceTimeApple includes a forward-facing camera for video chat with other iPhone 4 users over Wi-Fi. Imagine talking to your parents when away from home, like at college. Instead of explaining to them how you are doing or what your dorm looks like, you can simply show them.

MultitaskingYou are able to run apps in the background and seamlessly switch between them. For example, you can be listening to your favorite station on Pandora Radio, and you won't miss a beat if you decide to surf the web or answer a text message.

Battery The iPhone 4 boasts impressive battery life, so you are always informed about your latest school assignments or recruiting opportunities. It's able to play 40 hours of music and 10 hours of video, or easily function all day making phone calls and surfing the web.

Game Center - Coming this fall, this app functions similar to Xbox Live and Playstation Network. You will be able to play the thousands of game apps available with your closest friends, while keeping track of your progress.

What's Missing

Currently, the iPhone is only available on AT&T. Although greatly improved in recent months, AT&T still lags behind Verizon in voice quality. Also, purchasing an iPhone requires you to sign a 2-year contract, with a minimum of $39.99 for 450 minutes and $15.00 for 250 mb of data per month.

The iPhone also lacks a few standard features found on other phones, such as in-call recording and a built-in radio tuner. Although not critical, these features would add a nice touch to complete the package.

The iPhone 4 is available in black and white (white available later in the year) for  $199 (16 gb) or $299 (32 gb) from your local Apple or AT&T retail stores.
