Lil Bibby has finally released the follow-up to his 2013 mix tape, Free Crack.
The DJ Drama-hosted freebie features 18 tracks, including three bonus songs. Lil Bibby got help for the project from some A-list talent, including Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, Kevin Gates, Lil Herb, T.I, Jadakiss and singer Anthony Hamilton. The collection also features producers like Bangladesh, DJ L, Needlz, Honorable C-Note and Sonny Digital.
During a recent interview with Red Eye Chicago, the 2014 XXL Freshman asserted that although his lyrics, like many others, highlight the crime-fueled culture in Chicago, he isn't celebrating the lifestyle. "That stuff I rap about is real," he said. "My neighborhood has so many enemies that something might happen while you're heading to the job or getting back. People need to know what's going on because they don't care otherwise. I don't speak positive on this stuff; my raps aren't glorification. They're advice.
"When I was coming up, we saw what Keef, Lil Durk and Lil Reese were doing," he added. "I knew I could do it. I'm going to try to start reaching out to the other guys in the rap scene here [in Chicago]. Maybe I can help them see about the bigger picture. You gotta go outside and look around. It's good for you."
Several of the tracks on the mixtape are already turning into hits, including "We Are Strong," which features a sample from Pat Benatar's 80s hit single "Love is a Battlefield," the remix to his hit track "Water," and "For the Low Pt. 2." "That's one of my favorite songs and everywhere I go and everywhere I perform it, it seems like that's everybody's favorite song," said Bibby to XXL.
