Ed Orgeron is an intense dude. The man who replaced the long-tenured Les Miles at LSU halfway through the 2016 season, then stayed on this offseason when he was officially named head coach, is a walking stereotype of an old-school football coach. His chest is a mile wide, his cheeks are permanently red and he loves to get so fired up that you can no longer decipher what he's saying.

It is a wonder that any human being can maintain such a high level of enthusiasm over the course of 365 days (aside from maybe Nick Swisher), but Orgeron may have just revealed the secret to his never-ending rations of energy: Monster Energy drinks.
Ed Orgeron says when he's drinking, he'll have 8-10 energy drinks a day: "If we do something LSU we're going to do it full speed." pic.twitter.com/ecea92OAyR

Appearing on The Dan Lebatard Show on ESPN, Orgeron said he drinks 8 to 10 cans of Monster per day, which is far too many for any normal human being. Per caffeineinformer.com, a 16 fluid ounce can of Monster contains 160 mg of caffeine. Multiple that by 10, and Orgeron is consuming a whopping 1.6 grams of caffeine a day.
"If we're going to do something here at LSU, we're going to do it full speed, my man," Orgeron said.
Per a recent article on Livestrong, a new study found that humans can "safely consume up to 400 milligrams of caffeine a day." Orgeron is consuming four times that amount. Though many health benefits are associated with caffeine, the same study points out that consumption of more than 400 mg per day, if you're 55 or younger, can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease. Orgeron is exactly 55 years old.
We love the fire, Coach, but maybe cut back on your Monster consumption this season?
