Although the NFL got off to a rocky start this season with its replacement officials, one outstanding rookie is unfazed and stealing the show: Robert Griffin III, a.k.a. RGIII. (Check out STACK's footage of Robert Griffin III.)
The Washington Redskins 22-year-old QB is a natural leader and a fierce competitor. Although the Redskins are only 1-2, RGIII cannot be faulted. He has completed nearly 70% of his passes and become one of his team's leading rushers. In his three outings so far, he has been responsible for seven touchdowns, four in the air and three on the ground.
The question is, will the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner continue to excel, or will his performance plateau, or, worse, decline, as the season progresses?
RGIII Means Accuracy
At Baylor University, where he played for four years, RGIII's accuracy revealed his natural talent. During his freshman year, he completed almost 60% of his passes. As he matured, so did his accuracy; during his junior and senior seasons, he completed 67% and 72.4%, respectively.
RGIII Means Explosiveness
This mobile QB is much more than a passer. During his last two high school seasons, he ran for more than 2,000 yards and scored 32 touchdowns on the ground. At Baylor, he had almost identical rushing numbers: 33 touchdowns and 2,254 rushing yards. So far with the Redskins, he has racked up over 200 yards on the ground.
Robert Griffin III's accuracy and explosiveness prepared him for the big show. The talented young rookie is one of the highlights of the early going in the NFL. Will he keep it up? Our gut says yes. It will be fun to watch.
