The 2012 E3 Sony conference promised new entries in our favorite Playstation series, while unveiling brand new titles like Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Worlds and The Last of Us. Throughout the conference, Sony emphasized the fantasy action gaming it does best.
Beyond: Two Worlds
Sony kicked off the conference with Beyond: Two Worlds. The presentation established the excitement of the game by introducing interesting characters, intriguing plots and amazing graphics, without actually explaining how the game would be played. The game follows the life of Jodie Holmes, played by actress Ellen Page, who always experiences this world and the one beyond at the same time. The realistic demo unveiled Jodi Holmes' mysterious disappearance followed by an aggressive SWAT team pursuit.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Next, Sony demonstrated PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, which pits many of the console's classic characters, like God of War's Kratos and Uncharted's Nathan Drake, against each other in a battle royale. An attractive feature of this game is its compatibility with both PS3 and PlayStation Vita, allowing PS3 gamers to play against Vita players in the same online contest.
The Last of Us
The final new game to be showcased was The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic adventure whose main characters, Joel, and a young girl named Ellie, must fight and hide from hoards of infected zombie-like people in order to survive. The Last of Us comes from the Naughty Dog, developers of the Uncharted series, and the trailer featured some of the studio's best graphic work to date.
