Super Bowl Appearance Date: Jan. 22, 1984
That iPhone in your pocket? That iWatch on your wrist? That MacBook on your table?
They might've never existed had it not been for this commercial.
Directed by the legendary Ridley Scott, of Alien and Blade Runner fame, the commercial draws heavily from George Orwell's noted dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
It promoted the release of the Macintosh 128K (originally released as the Apple Macintosh), which was made available for sale two days after the commercial's airing during Super Bowl XVIII.
The ad made a massive impact and helped the Apple Macintosh sell extremely well out of the gate.
The product helped bring personal computing to the masses and paved the way for Apple's future innovations.
