No active NBA player has earned more contract money than Dirk Nowitzki.
His $246,646,362 in total earnings is nearly $13 million more than LeBron James, who ranks second in the category.
Along with LeBron, Dirk is one of just five active players to total over $200 million in earnings.
The other three are Carmelo Anthony, Joe Johnson and Dwight Howard.
Dirk could've earned substantially more money had he not given the Dallas Mavericks a home team discount on multiple occasions.
Business Insider estimates his career earnings could've totaled $446 million by the end of next season had Dirk been ultra-aggressive in his contract negotiations.
"Money isn't something I play for," Nowitzki told ESPN Dallas in 2013. "I want to compete. I want to win."
Nowitzki's minutes have declined in recent seasons, but he still started 77 of 82 games for the Mavericks last season.
Nowitzki has averaged 21.2 points over his 20 seasons.
