NFL cornerback Antonio Cromartie recently signed with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts' defense desperately needed help, and they are hoping that the 32-year-old will provide it. After a rough 2015 season, Cromartie has worked hard in the off-season to prove he can come back better than ever.
Hampered by injuries, Cromartie underperformed for the New York Jets last year. He had no interceptions and only 26 tackles in 15 games. But because of the off-season work he has been putting in, the Colts are taking a chance on the 10-year vet.
Cromartie has been working with Sean Donellan, Director of Sports Performance for the New York Islanders at Overtime Sports in Wayne, New Jersey, and Joe DeFranco of Joe DeFranco & DeFranco's Gym.
In the first video below, Cromartie performs a full-body weighted sled circuit to enhance his full-body explosion and speed. Watch him mimic the movements of jamming a receiver on the line of scrimmage, as well.
In the next video, Cromartie practices his acceleration out of his stance and cuts. He finishes the workout with a Plank and Push-Up circuit.
In this video, he performs a weighted Pistol Squat to improve his balance and hip mobility when covering wide receivers.
In this video, Cromartie performs a 55-inch Box Jump and six reps of 353 pounds on the Trap Bar Deadlift. At the end of the video, he does a wrestling drill that will help him with body position on the field.
In the final video, Cromartie does Band-Resisted Broad Jumps. With the resistance, he jumps 10 feet; without it, he jumps 11 feet. This will help his explosiveness on the field.
